The Kogi State Police Command on Friday warned political thugs and criminals to stay away from the inauguration site of Governor-elect Usman Ododo on Saturday.

Police Commissioner Bethrand Onuoha gave the warning in a statement issued in Lokoja, the state capital, by the command’s spokesperson, Williams Ovye-Aya, Superintendent of Police.

Onuoha said: “We are determined to decisively tackle any political thugs or miscreants who want to disturb the peace of the state.

“This warning became imperative in view of intelligence which revealed that some hoodlums are planning to attack the guests/visitors attending the inaugural ceremony in the state.

“He further revealed that the planned attack is aimed at disturbing the peace and therefore creating discord among the citizens of Kogi.”

He warned that any attempt to disturb the already existing peace in the state would meet serious resistance.

According to him, the police and other security agencies are ready to combat the miscreants.

He, however, advised those facing issues to vent them through legal process as any act that may lead to disruption of law and order in the state will not be tolerated.

The Police Commissioner urged all law-abiding people in the state to continue to collaborate with the police and other security agencies by providing credible and useful information about any suspicious person or act. (YAYA)
