Kidnapper Killed in Shootout with Delta Police; Gang Members Apprehended

A kidnapper was killed in a gunfight with the police in Oviri-Ogor, a town in Delta State.

The Delta State Police said the suspect died at the hospital after getting hurt badly during the gunfight.

The police, led by ASP Julius Robinson, also caught three other members of the kidnapper’s group.

The men they arrested are Ismaila Umaru, who is 28, Chede Mohammed, who is 18, and Mohammadu Sani, who is 26.

The police report from SP Bright Edafe said they worked hard, using special information to find these kidnappers. They had kidnapped a man (name not given) in Edjakota, Ughelli South LGA, Delta State. On July 1st, 2024, the police team arrested Ismaila Umaru in Oghara town, Delta State.

On July 4th, 2024, the police caught two more gang members, Chede Mohammed from Nasarawa State and living in Agwara, Delta State, and Mohammadu Sani from Abuja and living in Ughelli North.

Early in the morning on July 5th, 2024, the police went into the forest in Oviri-Ogor. They met other gang members and one of the suspects there got badly hurt in the fight. He later died in the hospital. The police found an AK-49 rifle at their hiding place.

SP Bright Edafe said the investigation is still going on.
