<p>Paul Nthenge Mackenzie, who leads a Kenyan doomsday cult, is now on trial. He faces charges of terrorism and is blamed for the deaths of over 400 of his followers.</p>
<p>On Monday, Mackenzie and 94 others appeared in court in the coastal city of Mombasa, which is by the Indian Ocean.</p>
<p>Back in April 2023, Mackenzie was arrested. He was accused of telling his followers to stop eating so they could "meet Jesus." This dangerous advice led to many deaths.</p>
<p>Mackenzie, along with those who helped him, also faces other serious charges. These include murder, manslaughter, kidnapping, and hurting children.</p>
<p>The remains of more than 440 people were found in a remote area near the coastal town of Malindi. This place is not too far from the Indian Ocean.</p>
<p>Doctors examined some of these bodies. They found that most people died from starvation. But sadly, some were strangled, beaten, or suffocated. This shows that they were hurt in many different ways before they died.</p>
