Kano Police Prosecute 600 Out of 873 Suspects in ‘End Bad Governance’ Protests

In Kano, a city in Nigeria, the police caught 873 people during a big protest against the government. Out of those, they have already taken 600 people to court for breaking the law and causing trouble.

The Police Chief, Salman Dogo Garba, explained to reporters that these people did many bad things. They worked together to cause problems, started fights, stole things, damaged property, and even set fires.

He also mentioned that 150 of those people got in trouble for not following a curfew set by the government. Plus, there are 6 people who are being looked at closely because they might have been the leaders behind burning and stealing from a big printing press in the city.

Garba shared that they found and arrested 76 people who had Russian flags, including one foreign person. These 76 are now being investigated for trying to start more trouble. They also caught 41 others for serious crimes like armed robbery and kidnapping.

The police found two AK-47 rifles and many stolen items at various places like the Audu Bako Secretariat, Kano Printing Press, supermarkets and other places damaged during the chaos.

The Police Chief said the good news is that nobody died during these protests. They have also arrested several criminals: 4 kidnappers, 5 armed robbers, 8 car thieves, and 2 people involved in human trafficking. Additionally, they caught 23 gang members known as Yan Daba.

The police confiscated 4 AK-47 rifles, 1 Beretta pistol, 47 bullets, 8 cars, many Exol tablets (which are drugs), and 2 motorbikes.

They also found 22 cows, 15 sheep, and 4 donkeys that were stolen.
