The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) is visiting the four Emirate Councils to talk with traditional leaders. They want everything to go smoothly for the local government elections that are coming soon.
The Commission asked the Emir of Rano, Alh. Muhammad Isa Umaru, to help make the October 26 local government election a success.
KANSIEC Chairman, Prof. Sani Lawan Malumfashi, said that traditional leaders are very important for keeping peace and order.
He asked the Emir to tell his people why peace and good behavior are important during and after the elections. It’s very important for the elections to be peaceful,” said Prof. Malumfashi.
“Thank you for helping us keep peace and democracy,” he added.
The Emir of Rano promised to help completely. He said he would ask district heads, village heads, and ward heads, along with his people, to support KANSIEC.
“We will do everything to help make the elections go well,” he stated.
