The Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) has given special papers called Certificates of Return to people who won in the local government elections that happened on Saturday.

The KANSIEC boss, Professor Sani Malumfashi, handed these special papers to 44 people who will now be in charge of different areas called council chairmen.

One of the new leaders is a young woman named Sa’adatu Yushau Tudunwada. She is now the leader, or Chairperson, of Tudunwada Local Government Area (LGA).

Professor Malumfashi said, “Giving these Certificates of Return is the last step in our job. We did our job carefully and followed all the rules and laws.”

When talking to journalists, Tudunwada said she will treat all the people in her area fairly, no matter which party they support.

The new leader of Fagge LGA, Salisu Masu, shared his worry about not having enough money because of some money leaks happening.

He said, “I will work hard to stop the leaks and find ways to bring in more money. Right now, from what I understand, the money we get from the Federal Government is not enough to pay our workers, unless the state government gives us extra money.”
