This sad event happened on a Tuesday night. It caused the death of more than 150 people and hurt over 50 others.

The governor shared this news when he went to visit Governor Umar Namadi in Jigawa State to show he cares.

Governor Yusuf felt very sad about what happened. He said this was one of the worst things to happen in Jigawa and Nigeria.

His Words:

“I am here for the people of Kano to say we are sorry for this bad fire accident that hurt many people in your place, Majiya town in Taura area. It is very sad that Jigawa and Nigeria lost so many lives.

Kano and Jigawa are like family, so Kano State wants to give 100 million Naira to help the people hurt in the hospital and the families of those who passed away,” said Yusuf.

Things to Know:

Governor Namadi was very thankful to Governor Yusuf and Kano’s people for being kind. He said, “Thank you for being with us like brothers during this hard time,” showing how much this support means to Jigawa people.

The accident was caused by a fuel tanker that tipped over. It happened in northern Nigeria late at night. Many people came close to gather the petrol leaking from the tanker, and then it exploded.

The police and officials tried to keep people safe by keeping them away, but sadly the people didn’t leave before the tanker blew up.

Besides the people who died, about 100 got seriously hurt and rushed to the hospital. This accident made everyone worry about how we handle safety when dangerous things are involved. They want to make sure accidents like this don’t happen again.

The Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau wants to find out why this happened. They want to make sure we learn and improve safety so that no such accidents happen in the future.
