The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State has asked the Police and security teams to keep their members and others safe.
The party promised to stay at the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (SIECOM) office until the result papers for the wards and local councils are shared, along with all other needed items for the council elections.
The state leader of the party, Edward Percy Masha, shared a message saying, “Our team at the SIECOM office noticed that the important ‘result sheets’ for council elections are missing from the items supposed to be sent to the local areas.”
The party urged SIECOM to do the right thing quickly. They said if the important result sheets are not included, they will not let the materials be sent out incomplete.
The state leader said this goes against an agreement they made, which promised that government bodies, including SIECOM and security teams, would be fair and give all parties an equal chance to participate freely in voting.
The party asked everyone, especially those who care about democracy, to stay calm. They emphasized their commitment to making sure the rules for local council elections are followed correctly.
