The Middle Belt Forum in Kaduna State said they don’t agree with the results from the council elections that happened on Saturday, October 19. These results were told to everyone by the person in charge, Hajiya Hajara Mohammed.
The leader of this group in the state, Luka Binniyat, asked Governor Uba Sani to think carefully about what happened in the elections. He wants the Governor to make a smart and brave decision that will help make democracy stronger in the state and make people trust and like him more.
Binniyat said, “We ask the leaders in Kaduna State to change the rules so that people who do bad things in elections get big fines or even go to jail, especially those working on the elections.”
He also said, “We think what Hajiya Hajara Mohammed announced is either a mistake or a computer trick. It’s really upsetting and doesn’t respect the smart people in our state. It even moves us backward.”
Binniyat wants Governor Uba Sani to remember that Kaduna State is a big and special place. It has people from many different places, but it can get upset about things like this. As the leader, the Governor should step in and fix this quickly.
He added, “The people in charge, like APC, can win in all 23 areas of Kaduna State. But they must follow the rules fairly so that we can honestly cheer for them and work together for a better future.”
He said that from what they saw and heard on Saturday, not much voting happened in 12 areas in the Middle Belt of Kaduna State. The voting materials came late and without the important papers that show results. So, people didn’t trust what was going on and didn’t vote.
Since the voting didn’t really happen, he believes it’s not possible that there were real winners like the law says there should be, both in small areas and big areas where leaders are chosen. No such results were announced in those 12 areas, also known as Southern Kaduna.
The leader said, “We have seen papers online that say they show the results, giving votes to different party members, but there were no results from actual voting to make those papers true.”
“If Governor Uba Sani lets these results announced by Hajiya Hajara Mohammed be the real results, it would be very sad and hurt the trust people have in him,” he shared.
“It’s a real problem that governors make sure their party wins all the time in these local elections. This unfairness can hurt not only them in the future but also the way democracy should work and even makes us laugh at how things should be better,” he said.
