The state government of Kaduna said he has rescued a seven -year -old boy, Abubakar Sani, his abusive father, who supposedly tied his legs and had served hot water as punishment for stealing cookies.

A statement from the Human Services and Social Development Rabi Salisu said that the horrible incident occurred in the local government area of ​​the state of Kaduna.

“The report on the child arrived at the Ministry about nine days ago, and by then, their legs could already and made the worms come out, so the doctors advice was the amputation to save their life,” he said.

The commissioner revealed that the father, Sani Tanimi Maishago, and his wife, the child's stepmother, locked Abubakar in a room for more than 20 days without adequate food, and added that the police in the state have arrested the father and stepmother, and “will face charges in the court once the investigation is complete.”

“We will ensure that justice is served as a deterrent to others,” he said.

She advised parents to have caution and perseverance in punishing their children, warning that “irreversible consequences” can result from excessive punishment.

Meanwhile, the state government has reiterated its commitment to defend the rights of children, with Salisu emphasizing that “the child's social welfare is the primary objective of the State.”

He added that the government would continue working to ensure that justice was served and that children were protected from abuse and exploitation in the state.
