Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has announced the death of his mother, Hajiya Maryam Namadi Umar, who passed away early Wednesday morning.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Hamisu Gumel, confirmed his death, calling it a profound loss coinciding with the Governor's official trip to China.
The funeral is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. today in Kafin Hausa, his hometown, and will follow Islamic traditions.
Despite her absence, Governor Namadi expressed his gratitude for the condolences received within and outside Jigawa State, while asking for prayers for the peaceful repose of his late mother.

The governor's absence during this deeply personal loss raises concerns about his ability to attend the funeral, which is scheduled for today.
Despite being far from home, Governor Namadi expressed his grief and heartfelt gratitude for the condolences received from across the state and beyond.
“The burial rites will take place today at 4:30 pm in his hometown of Kafin Hausa, in accordance with Islamic traditions,” the statement read.
Governor Namadi and his family have asked for prayers for the peaceful repose of Hajiya Maryam's soul.
