    Job Title: Agronomist III

    Location: Abuja (FCT)
    Employment Type: Full-time
    Grade: B3

    Job Description:

      • This job is supervised by the Deputy Economic Security Coordinator. You will be the main link between our national program and our field program.
      • You will help design our agricultural programs, assess needs, and create plans to address those needs countrywide.
      • You will coordinate and supervise agricultural projects and work with government agriculture agencies in Nigeria.

    Main Duties and Responsibilities

      • Help analyze and understand the current humanitarian situation and the agricultural needs in different areas of Nigeria.
      • Assist in creating a strategy for our agricultural programs and plan responses to the needs we find.
      • Plan and carry out agricultural activities in various regions. Provide hands-on support to staff and help with technical processes.
      • Work with the Ministry of Agriculture and other governmental bodies to support their programs and build capacity.
      • Develop tools to manage agricultural programs and make sure they are used effectively across the country.
      • Document all program activities and maintain records. Understand all past and current agricultural initiatives by ICRC in Nigeria.
      • Ensure high-quality seeds are provided for our programs and monitor their quality with local support.
      • Help farmers learn better farming methods and climate-smart practices, providing training and practical demonstrations.
      • Connect seed producers with local farmers and support seed voucher programs to improve the availability of quality seeds.

    Education and Experience Required

      • You need a Bachelor’s Degree in Agronomy and at least 5 years of work experience in food security and agricultural livelihoods.
      • You must speak English and Hausa well, both written and spoken.
      • You need more than 5 years of experience in agricultural programs, with at least 2 years in management, especially in humanitarian or private sectors.
      • You must be a Nigerian national or have a work permit.
      • You should be good with computers, especially Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
