The Jigawa Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) has carried out a five-day waste clearance, evacuation and fumigation exercise in Gumel Local Government Area of the state.
This was made known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Tuesday by the agency’s acting director general, Adamu Sabo.
He said the exercise was part of the comprehensive waste disposal initiative designed to improve sanitation in communities in the state.
Sabo said the operation involved fumigating schools, health centers and other public buildings to eliminate mosquitoes and other reptiles.
He explained that the gesture aimed to improve the hygiene of ecosystems and vector control to promote a healthy life.
The general director recommended that residents of the area and the general public always clean their surroundings and adhere to a good sanitary culture.
He assured that the agency will continue to give top priority to public hygiene through information campaigns and practical demonstrations.
