The popular Ibadan Tennis Club (ITC) will celebrate its 100 years of existence.
Founded in 1925, the social club's president told the Saturday Tribune that members are already preparing things for an elaborate celebration in the middle of this year.
Dr Oladipupo Sule of Nonsuch Medicare Ltd, Chairman, said a press conference will be held soon announcing activities to mark the centenary celebrations, and also said the club will be present at the book launch by Mr. Tade Makinde on February 16 at the Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan, Oyo State.
“It is on record that the author's late father worked with our club on April 22, 1977 to host the coronation of Sunny Ade as King of Music. The club remembers that honor to this day. That's why we are always excited about anything that has to do with the late Olu Makinde, King Sunny Ade or Sketch Newspaper.
“We will hold the conference immediately after the book launch, or before, depending on how other executive members of the club want us to do it.
“Just like that, we have two celebrations on our hands; the presentation of a book in honor of a journalist friend and the centenary of our club. “I am very excited to be a part of both iconic events,” he said.
All activities to mark the celebrations will take place at the club, except those agreed upon by the club's management members.
