The Imo State Independent Electoral Commission, known as ISIEC, gave Certificates of Return to the winners of the chairmanship election held on Saturday in the state.
Let’s remember that the All Progressives Congress, APC, won all 27 chairmanship and 305 councillorship seats in this election.
On Tuesday, while giving the certificates, ISIEC chairman Charles Ejiogu explained that this act follows the rules of the law.
Ejiogu mentioned that the certificates for vice chairmen and councillors will be given out in a few days.
“This event shows how the people have come together to voice their choices in a democratic way, without any fights or problems,” Ejiogu said.
“Observers have agreed that the election was very peaceful, free, fair, transparent, and credible,” added Ejiogu.
Out of the 27 newly elected chairmen, two are women. Additionally, 14 women were also elected as vice chairpersons in different Local Government Areas.
