The Nigeria Police have made it clear that they don’t approve of a social media influencer, Martins Otse, or “VeryDarkMan,” wearing a police uniform in his video.
The police are trying to find out how he got the uniform and police badges he wore. In his video, Martins Otse dresses up like a policeman and says he is the social media police, not an activist.
The police explained that what Martins did goes against certain rules and laws. They have shared this on their official online page.
Here’s what they said: “The Nigeria Police Force does not support someone wearing police uniforms without permission, like Mr. Martins Otse, known as ‘VDM,’ did in his video.”
“The police are looking into where he got the uniform and whether he had any permission to use it.”
The police remind everyone that it’s not okay to wear police uniforms or use their symbols just for fun. According to the law, this can be a serious crime and those who do it might face punishment.
While the police want young Nigerians to be creative and make cool content, they ask that no one uses police uniforms improperly. Doing so can damage the respect and honesty people have for the police.
