Police officers in Imo State have arrested two men for robbery. Their names are Ntosi Godfrey, 37 years old, and Nnamdi Raymond.
The police say these men were causing trouble between two cities, Umuahia and Owerri.
Another person, a 25-year-old named Chibueze Kalu, was also caught because he might be part of a dangerous gang.
At the Police Headquarters in Owerri, the spokesperson, ASP Henry Okoye, showed the arrested men. He mentioned that the Tactical Unit of the police caught the two robbers during a stop-and-search operation on the Owerri-Aba road.
The police stopped the suspects who were in a green Toyota Golf car with the registration number AA775BD Lagos. The robbers fired shots at the police, but the police fought back.
During the exchange of fire, one of the robbers was hurt and taken to the hospital for treatment. The other robber was caught without injuries.
The police found one pump-action gun, a locally made gun, and 10 bullets when they searched the robbers.
The two robbers admitted to being part of a dangerous gang in Umuahia and mentioned another person who hasn’t been caught yet.
In a different case, on July 18, 2024, police from the Nekede Divisional Headquarters in Owerri West worked with local security to catch Chibueze Kalu. He is believed to be part of a gang called Black Axe Confraternity.
