Ikpeba and Elegbeleye grace the premiere of Nigeria's first football film, 'When Love Strikes'

The Fillmhouse IMAX cinema in Lekki, Lagos was buzzing with excitement on Wednesday as Nigeria’s first football-themed film, “When Love Strikes,” premiered.

Among the dignitaries present were former African Footballer of the Year, Victor Ikpeba, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Gbenga Elegbeleye.

NPFL Chairman Gbenga Elegbeleye is excited about the collaboration between the entertainment and sports industries.

The film, produced by Inkblot Production, tells the story of IBK, a talented young footballer who dreams of playing professionally abroad.

However, after the death of his father, he is torn between two opportunities that could change his future forever.

The premiere was attended by a select audience from the sports and entertainment industry, eager to witness this historic moment.

The film features top Nollywood stars such as Natse Jemide, Osas Ighodaro, Zubby Michael and Bimbo Akintola, as well as sports journalists Suo Chapelle and Jimmie Akintola.

Mr. Elegbeleye, the Chairman of the NPFL Board of Directors, hailed the film as a great collaboration between sports and the Nigerian league.

One of the film's producers, Damola Ademola, expressed his delight at the final outcome of the project.

“This is a great collaboration between the sports industry and the film industry. I hope this collaboration will be the first of many… not just in football but in other sports because Nollywood has taken the country beyond its borders. It is good that they are betting on football and sports as it brings a better global vision to the country.”

'When Love Strikes' explored the world of the Nigerian league using the franchise and facilities of the Remo Stars football club.

One of the film's producers, Damola Ademola, expressed his delight at the final outcome of the project, highlighting the actors' efforts in performing their stunts to make the film as original as possible.

'When Love Strikes' will be released in cinemas across Nigeria starting Friday, September 13.
