The Police Inspector (PGI) Kayode EGBETOKUN has held a strategic meeting with the commanders of several police training institutions throughout the country, in Abuja aimed at improving the optimal performance of the staff.
This was contained in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja by the Public Relations officer, Commissioner of the FPRO Police, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
According to the statement, “during the meeting, the PGI accused them of defending the highest standards of best practices and discipline within their respective institutions.
He declared that the commitment was part of a broader effort to strengthen police and reform training initiatives throughout the country.
According to this, “the commitment is aligned with the recent Commanders Conference of the Nigerian Police Training Universities/Schools held at the National Police Studies Institute (NIPS), Abuja, from March 3 to 5, 2025.
“This conference, organized in association with the UNDP Foundation, GS and the German embassy, focused on improving police training strategies for sustainability and alignment with global best practices.
He explained that the conference highlighted several critical areas, including the review of training standards, police reforms, recruitment processes and development of the curriculum, in line with the Vision Declaration of the PPE.
According to this, “commanders were urged to adapt training programs to address emerging security threats, including cyber security, anti -terrorism and the implementation of community surveillance strategies.
“This commitment to professionalize police training is further strengthened by the efforts of the current police leadership of Nigeria to build a more effective and professional police force through the recent approval of the establishment bill of the Nigeria police institution.
The statement reaffirmed that Nigeria's police force remained committed to the professionalization of police training as a fundamental pillar of effective surveillance and national security and added that the force trusted that these initiatives would contribute to a more capable and receptive police force that is well equipped to face the evolved challenges of the time.
