Idris Elba, a famous actor, will play the main character, Okonkwo, in a TV show based on Chinua Achebe’s book, “Things Fall Apart.” He will also help produce the show.
The show is being created by A24, but they haven’t chosen a writer yet. Idris Elba will produce it with Gina Carter under their company, 22Summers, as reported by Variety.
Nigerian actor David Oyelowo and Amanda N’Duka will also help produce through their company, Yoruba Saxon. Ben Forkner, Dayo Ogunyemi, and Achebe Masterworks are also helping to produce the show. A24 is the studio behind this project.
“Things Fall Apart” is Achebe’s best-known book. It tells the story of Okonkwo, a strong African warrior and leader. His life changes when British colonizers arrive.
Okonkwo is very determined to keep his traditions. This makes him strong but also causes problems. He struggles with the changing world, showing the tension between being strong, being vulnerable, and adapting. This makes Okonkwo a memorable character.

“Things Fall Apart” is considered one of the best books ever. It has been translated into more than 60 languages and has won many awards, such as the Nigerian National Merit Award and the Man Booker International Prize.
The book is the first in Achebe’s African Trilogy. The other two books are “No Longer at Ease” and “Arrow of God.” It has been made into a film and a miniseries before. In the miniseries, Pete Edochie played Okonkwo.
