“I Withdraw My Respect” – Charly Boy Reacts to Renaming of National Theatre After Soyinka

Must Read

Veteran singer and social activist, Charly Boy (Charles Oputa), says he will no longer respect the famous writer, Prof. Wole Soyinka.

Charly Boy, who often criticizes President Bola Tinubu, shared his thoughts on his official social media page on Friday. He was reacting to the news that the government has renamed the National Arts Theatre in Lagos to honor Soyinka.

According to a report by DAILY POST, President Tinubu made this announcement in a tribute letter he wrote for Soyinka’s 90th birthday. The President decided to name the National Arts Theatre after Soyinka to celebrate him.

Responding to this, Charly Boy posted his disagreement online, saying that important people are losing their value “for beans.”

He wrote, “Uncle WOLE, I will now stop giving you the respect I once had for you.”

“When the late Jimmy Johnson talked about you in the ‘90s, I thought he was just joking.

Wow! How some of our important people have fallen, for beans, ewa, dodo, is it for rice’?”

Hope this helps!
