I will hand over Kano to APC in 2027 – Minister

Must Read

The newly appointed Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Yusuf Abdullahi, has pledged to hand over Kano State to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Abdullahi, who stated this while briefing newsmen shortly after arriving in Kano on Sunday, also pledged his dedication to promoting President Bola Tinubu's Renewed Hope Agenda.

He expressed his commitment to participate in Mr Tinubu's Renewed Hope Housing Program and commended the President for his appointment.

Abdullahi also vowed to ensure that APC regains Kano State in the 2027 general elections.

“This appointment is for the citizens of Kano State and Nigeria.“I assure the President that, God willing, Kano State will once again be an APC stronghold in 2027.“My appointment is primarily due to political importance from Kano Central, a region with a substantial voter base. “I will continue to be present in my district and constituency to strengthen our political base,” he explained.

The minister highlighted the importance of completing ongoing projects under his ministry, particularly those related to the Renewed Hope Agenda.

He also expressed confidence in his ability to deliver on these commitments, drawing on his experience as former speaker and majority leader of the state House of Assembly.

“Kano Central has the highest vote. It has 65% of registered voters and has no important appointments.

“But just now the president appointed me and according to what they said, I have been in the House of Assembly since 1999.

“I was speaker, majority leader and special advisor to the governor. Therefore, we have every confidence to win in Kano State,” he said.

The state is currently governed by the NNPP under the leadership of Governor Abba Yusuf.

The NNPP came to power in the 2023 elections, defeating the APC, which was the party in power at the time.

As is customary with most governors in their first term, Governor Yusuf may want to seek re-election for a second term in 2027.
