In Nigeria, some leaders have come together to help families affected by a terrible accident. A big explosion happened because of a petrol tanker in Jigawa State. Sadly, more than 170 people lost their lives.
The House of Representatives, a group of important decision makers, has decided to give N100 million to help the families affected by this sad event. This news was shared by a spokesman, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, on October 24, 2024.
During a special visit to Jigawa State, the Speaker of the House, Abbas Tajudeen, along with other leaders, expressed their sadness and support for the people who are hurting from this tragedy. The explosion happened on October 15, 2024, in a place called Majiya town.
Help for the Families
The incident was so serious that President Bola Tinubu sent a team to check on things and offer help. This team looked at the explosion site, and the President made sure that medicines, food, and places to stay were given to 50 people hurt in the explosion and others affected.
- The leaders talked to the state’s governor, Malam Umar Namadi, about how to stop such accidents from happening again in the future. They want to keep people safe not just in Jigawa but all over Nigeria.
“We are here to help you find answers to stop these kinds of accidents. We want to show love and care for the people affected by this awful event,” said Speaker Abbas.
“This N100 million is our way of saying we care and to show support to the families and people who are in the hospital.”
The leaders also sent their prayers to those families who lost someone they loved and wished for quick healing for the injured.
The Governor’s Response
Governor Namadi thanked the leaders for coming and appreciated their kind gift of N100 million. He called this gesture kind and caring.
“Your visit and the donation give us strength. Even in this hard time, we know people are standing with us,” he said.
Governor Namadi promised that the money would be used wisely to help those who need it most.
Reports tell us that, after the explosion, the President wants to make sure that travel safety is stronger. He has asked the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to work harder at keeping the roads safe, especially at night.
