Gubernatorial Election: APC Urges Ighodalo’s Running Mate to Resign as Secretary to the State Government

Must Read

The leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State want Osarodio Ogie, the deputy candidate for governor from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), to step down from his job as the Secretary to the State Government right away. The election for governor is on September 21, 2024.

Emperor Jarret Tenebe, who is the acting chairman of Edo State APC, said this in a statement shared with journalists in Benin City. The election is coming up in just 72 days.

Tenebe said that by staying in his job and running for the deputy governor position, Mr. Ogie is breaking the rules. These rules say that public workers cannot use government resources for their own campaigns.

However, Chris Nehikhare, who is the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, disagrees. He said that Mr. Ogie has not broken any laws and will resign when it is the right time. He also said that the APC does not get to decide when Mr. Ogie has to quit his job.
