One charity, ITECH Vocational Charity, has graduated 80 people, including high school students trained in computer and technology fundamentals.
During the presentation of certificates to graduates at the ITECH training center in Ilesa, Osun State, on Friday, the president of the organisation, Adewale Ladesuyi, emphasized that the students have acquired skills that will enable them to be self-reliant.
“Today's program demonstrates that young Nigerians can achieve extraordinary things when they put their mind to it. I encourage you not to give in and to continue improving what you have learned.
“We are training these people because we see a better future for them. Although others may not realize it now, they will eventually appreciate the dividends of these acquired skills and others will envy your success.
“We have instilled honesty in them, making them understand that without honesty progress is impossible. However, with honesty in action, heaven will be the starting point of your success.”

The center's director, Mosaku Moyogbore, explained that the students were selected from three schools and that the organization placed a strong focus on grassroots development.
He also noted that some teachers from the selected schools had been trained to impart knowledge to graduate students.
Additionally, he announced that new training programs have been introduced for interested students at the center.
“Teachers from various schools have been trained to train their students, complementing our efforts at the center.
“Today we graduated 80 students from St. Lawrence's Grammar School, Iloko Model College, AFOPET College and our centre. Graduates include people both young and old.
“They have been trained in Computer Fundamentals, Tech Foundation, A+, Network+, Data+, Security+ and Helpdesk and Application Support.
“We are also introducing new programs, including solar generator construction, solar installation, mobile phone repair and computer engineering. “These will be offered as six-month training programs,” he said.
Dr. Lawrence Ige Fagbohun, Chief Professor of the Federal Polytechnic, Ede, in his keynote address, urged the graduates to prepare for the challenges ahead and continue to seek knowledge.
“After training, they need to go out and settle down. In doing so, they will face challenges, including from the government, which cannot even provide adequate jobs.
“Don't be afraid to start small. When you start small, you grow big. They need to establish relationships with competitors in business and continually seek knowledge,” he advised.
