On Saturday, Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State praised how calm and peaceful the chairmanship and councillorship elections were. These elections took place in all 44 local government areas in Kano State.

The Governor shared his thoughts with reporters at the Kano State Independent Electoral Commission (KANSIEC) office. This was right after he voted in Gwale, the place where he is from.

He mentioned that the elections happened in 484 different places across the state and were the most peaceful that Kano has ever seen.

Governor Yusuf promised that the people who won the elections will work hard for everyone in Kano. He also said his team will make sure they do a great job leading the state.

He thanked the people in charge at KANSIEC for making sure the elections were free and fair.

The Governor explained how important it is for elections to be fair. He said everyone should get to vote without any problems.

He also talked to judges, asking them to stay fair and not pick sides when it comes to elections.

Governor Yusuf reassured that even though his government is under a different party, they will stand strong. The people of Kano love peace, but they will stand up if necessary.

He reminded everyone of what happened in Rivers and explained that they were very careful to make sure the same thing didn’t happen in Kano.

He kindly asked those who didn’t win in the elections to accept it peacefully, noting that they had strong support from voters.

Aliyu Suleiman from the Sokoto State Electoral Commission also praised how peaceful the elections were.
