Kogi Governor Alhaji Ahmed Ododo has extended his heartfelt Christmas greetings to the Christian faithful, emphasizing the importance of reflecting on the boundless love of God exemplified through the birth of Jesus Christ.
He urged citizens to embrace compassion, generosity and unity, and to show kindness, especially towards those in need.
His words: “As we celebrate this season of joy, love and hope, I extend my heartfelt Christmas greetings to you and your families.
“This season reminds us of the values that unite us as a community: peace, tolerance and the unbreakable spirit of resilience. Let us take advantage of this time to show kindness to one another, especially those in need, and strengthen the bonds of love and friendship within our families and neighborhoods.
“As we prepare to begin a new year, I reaffirm my commitment to the growth and prosperity of our beloved state. Together, we will continue to build a Kogi State where every citizen has the opportunity to prosper and contribute meaningfully to our collective progress.
“May the joy of Christmas fill your hearts and homes, and may this season bring renewed hope, good health and abundant blessings to you all.
“Merry Christmas and may Kogi State and Nigeria experience peace and prosperity next year.”
Similarly, the Kogi State Head of Service, Dr. Elijah Evinemi, congratulated Christians, encouraging them to reflect on the teachings of Jesus Christ and spread love, joy and kindness.
“Merry Christmas to all public servants and the good people of Kogi State. As we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, let us remember the values of love, kindness and generosity that this season embodies.
“As we relax and recharge with our loved ones, let us not forget the less privileged among us. Let's spread love, joy and kindness to those around us.
“I wish you all a peaceful, joyful and blessed Christmas celebration,” he said.
The Maigari of Lokoja, Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Kabir Maikarfi IV, also joined in the festive greetings, praising the peaceful coexistence between the Christian and Muslim communities in the Lokoja Emirate Council. He stressed the importance of maintaining unity and harmony during the festive season.
“Unity between Christians and Muslims must continue. The Christian religion is peaceful and its followers must follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.
“It is the peaceful coexistence of the people of Lokoja that makes it the home of peace and harmony.”
