Governor Nwifuru to complete eight years in office – Umahi

Must Read

The Minister of Public Works, Senator David Umahi, says he will never abandon his successor, Governor Francis Nwifuru of Ebonyi, and will ensure that he completes eight years in office.

Umahi made the promise on Saturday in his hometown, Uburu, in Ohaoazara Local Government Area of Ebonyi, when members of the Nwifuru clan, the Izzi National Youth Forum, paid him Christmas tributes.

The former governor, while describing the visit as “surprising”, maintained that Nwifuru would complete his two terms as he and other former governors of the state did.

“God forbid the Izzi people confront me tomorrow, but my pact with God and Nwifuru is to complete eight uninterrupted years in office.

“Nothing will stop this as I fought alone against principalities and powers and won to make him governor.

“Do you think I can't do it now that I have someone by my side?” asked.

He reiterated his previous stance that the Izzi clan remains the best option for the current government of the state and he has no regrets about it.

“Nwifuru is humble and until the end of eight years I will not leave him,” he said.

Umahi praised the group's leadership for its skill, noting that he was amazed by the number of members of the delegation.

“It's gratifying that you came to celebrate with me when you should have been at home celebrating with your son, the governor,” he said.

The national president of the Izzi National Youth Forum, Andrew Elom, said the visit was to thank Umahi for fulfilling his promise to hand over the state governorship to an Izzi indigene.

Elom pleaded with Umahi not to abandon his successor and son, Nwifuru, but always guided him to stay on the right path.

“This is a project that you initiated and started and the governor needs all the encouragement you can give him,” he said.

He described Umahi as a performing minister, noting that Nigeria is currently witnessing and enjoying the replication of his wonderful works in Ebonyi. (YAYA)
