The Niger State Government will use the Gurara waterfalls to generate electricity.
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago made the disclosure at Gawu Babangida, Gurara Local Government Area Headquarters of the state, when he addressed stakeholders and members of the Council in continuation of his monitoring of projects across the state.
He explained that when the project is executed, the local government area will be included among the areas of the Electricity Generating Council and will enjoy its benefits.
The Governor observed that Gurara local government is a priority area considering its potential and said his administration will ensure that it is fully utilized for its good.
He listed some projects to be executed in the local government apart from the 5km municipal road to include a 5km road in Izom, a road to connect Izom and Gwagwalada and the construction of Gurara gaming centre.
Others are modern caravan parks worth N120 million, drinking water supply through partnerships and a green energy park under a tripartite agreement, among others.
The Governor thanked the senator representing Niger East Senatorial District in the National Assembly in Abuja, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa, for his effective delivery of services to the people of his constituents and his plans to build a mini stadium, a skill acquisition and healthcare with capacity for 50 beds. and many more.
Earlier, Senator Mohammed Sani Musa said God has blessed the people of the State with a good leader who loves them and cares about their interests.
He said that before long, Gurara Local Government Area will sport a new look as road projects will be completed and solar powered street lights will be installed.
The senator urged the people to reciprocate the good gesture by supporting the administration led by the current Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago to ensure its success.
The Deputy Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Afiniki Dauda and the Chairman of Gurara Local Government Council, Abdul-Halim Abubakar, in their separate remarks, thanked the state governor for his visit to the council area and the various significant projects he is executing for them.
The former Commissioner for Water Resources and Dam Development and one of the elders of the local government area, Alhaji Abubakar Azozo, on behalf of the Council area, appealed to the Governor for the construction of the Wakpe-Leifu-Boku road, the Dikko-Kabo-Shako road. , bridges in some communities.
He also requested the completion of the abandoned road project that would benefit the communities of Izom, Gawu and Lambata, which began at the end of the Abdulkadir Abdullahi Kure regime, highlighting that it is 90 percent complete.
Previously, the Governor had inaugurated a reactivated transformer in Lambata that had been vandalized four years ago, and had asked the population to protect it.
