The Governor of Borno State, Babagana Umara Zulum, shared some good news. His team gave out N450 million to help 45,000 widows and women in need in Borno State.

Why This Help Is Important
The Governor said his team visited Monguno to give out the money. They handed over N450 million to 45,000 widows and women who need help.
The Governor explained the help is not meant to make these people always depend on the government. Instead, it’s to support families who’ve lost their way of earning a living because of the Boko Haram crisis in Borno State.
“We also gave out N10,000 in cash and a wrapper to each of these 45,000 widows and women in need,” the Governor said.

The Governor thanked the federal government for sending food and grains to help the people of Borno State.
He said he oversaw giving out food and seeds to over 35,000 households in Monguno. Each of these 35,000 families got a 25kg bag of rice and cowpeas to help them farm.
He stressed the importance of giving seeds because many people can’t afford to buy farm supplies themselves.
“On behalf of the people of Borno State, I want to thank the federal government for this generous help,” the Governor said.
“We are in Monguno for two main reasons: first, to give out food provided by the federal government. We received twenty trucks of rice, and we distributed them all this morning. The federal government also gave us 90 trucks of fertilizer to hand out to our farmers for free.”

To tackle the food shortage, President Bola Tinubu asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security to release 42,000 metric tons of maize, millet, and other foods from reserves right away.
The target group includes less privileged people living in the 774 Local Government Areas of Nigeria.
