Kwara State Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, together with Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State and others, paid tribute to the Chief of Staff to Kwara State Governor Prince Abdulkadir Mahe who was laid to rest on Saturday night. , hours after his death.
The janazah was attended by thousands of people at his residence in Ilorin, including Governors Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq and Ahmed Usman Ododo (Kogi); senior government officials, bureaucrats, clergy, community leaders and family members.
Also present at the funeral was the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Salihu Danladi; the Grand Kadi of the Kwara State Shari'a Appeal Court, Justice Abdullateef Kamaldeen; Member of the House of Representatives Ahmed Yinka Aluko; Mutawalli of Ilorin, Dr. Alimi AbdulRazaq;
Chairpersons of Ilorin West, South and East local councils; Kwara NSCDC Commander Umar Muhammed; the Director General of the National Institute of Legislative and Democratic Studies, Prof. Abubakar Suleiman; NNPCL Non-Executive Director Dr. Muhammed Gali Alaya; Taliba of Ilorin and Chairman of the Governing Council/Pro-Chancellor of Kwara State University of Education, Prof. Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem (OFR); Prof. Abubakar Aliagan; and the former national president of the PDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, among others.

The prayer was led by the Chief Imam of Ilorin, Sheikh Muhammad Bashir Soliu, who prayed to Allah to admit him into Al-Jannah Firdaus.
Governor Abdulrazaq described the late Chief of Staff as a pillar of support for his administration and noted that he will be greatly missed.
“This is a great loss. He was a stabilizing factor in our administration. He is a pillar of support for our administration.
“We will really miss him. May Allah grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus,” the Governor told reporters on the sidelines of the event.
Ododo, for his part, described Mahe as a peace-loving personality and prayed to God to bless her soul.
“He was a peace-loving personality. The entire family and the state in general will miss him. There is nothing we can say because from Him we came and to Him we will return.
“What we owe him now is prayer and we will continue to pray for him,” he said.
Prince Mahe, a septuagenarian, was appointed Chief of Staff on 3 November 2023, having previously served as Secretary to the State Government.
Prince Mahe was a retired Permanent Secretary and Clerk of the Kwara State House of Assembly.
