Gov Lawal inspects the seized weapons, praises the DSS operation

The governor of the State of Zamfara, Dauda Lawal, on Tuesday, praised the Department of State Services (DSS) for his intelligence collaboration with the Nigerian Armed Forces, which led to the interception of a significant cache of weapons and basshed ammunitions of the Republic of Niger.

The governor made the recommendation after inspecting the weapons recovered in Gusau, the state capital.

He expressed his gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for providing robust support to DSS and the Army, which according to him is essential to improve security in Zamfara and Nigeria.

Governor Lawal said his administration would continue to support security agencies in their fight against terrorism and criminal activities in the state.

He praised the professionalism of the DSS and expressed confidence in his ability to safeguard Nigeria's internal security.

The seizure of weapons was the result of a joint operation between the DSS operations and the troops of the Hadarin Daji (Fansan Yamma) operation. Security officials successfully followed a notorious smuggler of arms, Abubakar Umar, also known as Dangada, from the Republic of Niger to the Kaura Namoda-Zurmi road on Monday and Tuesday.

The DSS operation was the result of security measures led by intelligence by the service to combat the proliferation of weapons in Nigeria.

According to security sources, DSS's intelligence had revealed that Umar had the task of transporting ammunition to the area of ​​the Birnin Magaji government, where they had to be delivered to prominent bandits leaders, including Kachallah Atta, Alhaji Shinge, Alhaji Nashama and a individual identified so Zaki.

The operation culminated in the interception of a Volkswagen Volkswagen golf truck recorded in Red Abuja (RBC 731 Gu), which the emails left after maintaining serious gunshot wounds during a shooting with security agents.

Recovered from the vehicle were seven AK-47 rifles, two PKT general use machine guns, two AK-103 rifles, 169 rounds of ammunition of 7.62×39 mm, nine pkt rounds with a chain and 13 empty magazines.
