Professor Aisha Maikudi has been appointed as the acting Vice Chancellor of the University of Abuja, making her the youngest ever to hold the position at 41 years old.

Maikudi takes over from Professor Abdulrasheed Na’allah, the current Vice Chancellor, whose term will end on June 30.

Her appointment is subject to the approval of a new Vice Chancellor by the university’s governing council.

In her acceptance speech, Maikudi thanked the Senate for their confidence in her leadership.

Prior to her new role, Maikudi served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor for Academics.

5. She completed her National Youth Service Corps at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation in 2007.

6. Aisha joined the University of Abuja as a Lecturer 2 in 2008.

7. She has achieved several “firsts” in her career, including being the youngest female Head of Department and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Abuja.

8. Maikudi specializes in United Nations Law and has published extensively on the subject.

9. She has over 12 years of experience teaching Company Law and has supervised various undergraduate and postgraduate projects.

10. Aisha has participated in numerous conferences and professional trainings worldwide.

11. She is a member of associations such as the Nigerian Bar Association, the Nigerian Law Teachers Association, and the International Federation of Women Lawyers.

12. Maikudi is married and has children.
