Four Fatalities Confirmed, Multiple Injuries in Ogun Road Accident

Must Read

Four people died and many were hurt in a bad accident in Enugada, Lafenwa, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

The accident happened when a truck with license plate AAA 86 XX hit two motorcycles, one with plate DE 968 V and another with plate AAB 387 VP. It also hit a Honda CRV with plate EKY 857 GU. This happened around 8:30 pm on Thursday.

People at DAILY POST say the truck’s driver and helper (called the motor boy) were missing when the truck stopped.

Officers from the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) were seen helping the injured people, clearing the road, and managing traffic.

Babatunde Akinbiyi, the TRACE spokesperson, said the accident happened because the truck’s brakes stopped working. The truck was going downhill from Itoku towards Enugada, Lafenwa.

He explained: “Witnesses say the truck’s brakes failed while it was going downhill from Itoku to Ago-Oba towards Enugada, Lafenwa. The truck then hit two motorcycles and a Honda CRV. Unfortunately, the two motorcyclists and their two passengers died, and the Honda CRV driver got hurt.”

Akinbiyi also said: “At first, we thought six people were dead, including the Honda CRV driver and a pedestrian. But they were saved thanks to the quick actions of first responders and people who were there.”

Akinbiyi said the names of the hospital and the injured people will be shared later.

He asked all drivers to check and fix their vehicles regularly. It is very important to make sure that things like brakes are working well before driving.
