Five Suspects Apprehended for Burglary and Theft in Ogun

The police in Ogun State have caught five people for breaking into shops and stealing things in Ijebu Ode and nearby places.

The people caught are Emmanuel who is 32 years old and is also called Ozon, Samuel Sunday Idoko who is 39, Tolulope Ilesanmi who is 21, Sanusi Daniel who is 29, and 20-year-old Ogunkoya Victor who is also called Emo.

The police spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, said these people were known for sneaking into shops and taking special wires from transformers that help give us electricity.

On Thursday, Odutola told DAILY POST that the police started looking for them because people complained after their shops were broken into.

“On October 4, 2024, at around 8:30 PM, the police in Igbeba received a tip that someone from a group that breaks into shops and takes AMOR cable wires was seen at the Ijebu Ilese Toll Gate. Quickly, detectives rushed over and caught the first person, Emmanuel M., who lives in Emurin Ijebu Ode and is known as “Ozon.”

While talking to him, Emmanuel confessed that he was part of the group and shared more names to help the police catch four more people.

“These people admitted that they broke into an electronics store owned by Anayo Sunday James at Bobadara Junction on Igbeba Road, Ijebu Ode, on February 20, 2024. They also took AMOR cable wires from transformers on Igbeba Road and other places in Ijebu Ode,” said Odutola.

The police found tools like an iron cutter, a machine for drilling, a cutting machine, a hammer, a screwdriver, and an iron chisel with them.

Odutola mentioned that the police are still digging deeper to find more people involved in this and to get back more things they took.
