Five people lost their lives, and nine others got hurt badly in a crash on the Abakaliki-Enugu highway.
Mr. Igwe Nnabuife, who is the big boss at the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ebonyi, spoke to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abakaliki about what happened. He said the accident took place at a busy spot called G-Hostel junction on Thursday night.
Mr. Nnabuife explained that the accident involved a white Hummer bus with the license plate LSR 823 YJ.
He said that the bus driver lost control and hit some debris on the road where they were fixing things. The bus then caught fire and burned.
The bus was carrying 16 people. Out of these, nine got hurt, and sadly, five died.
The nine injured people are getting treatment at the Alex-Ekwueme Federal University Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki, and they are starting to feel better.
Those who passed away have been taken to the hospital’s morgue after doctors confirmed they were no longer with us,” Mr. Nnabuife said.
He asked drivers to drive carefully and watch out for the bad spots on the roads to keep everyone safe.
