Fire Destroys 39 Shops at Abuja’s Kaura Market

Must Read

On Friday night, a huge fire destroyed 39 shops at Kaura Modern Market in Abuja. The fire started because of an electrical problem.

The fire began around 11 PM and was very strong. It took until about 2 AM on Saturday for the firefighters to put it out. The firefighters came from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service and the Federal Fire Service (FFS).

MT Ibrahim, who speaks for the FCT Fire Service, said the fire started because of an electrical spark from a power device in one of the shops.

In that shop, there was also a generator filled with petrol. This made the fire spread very quickly.

Many things were lost in the fire, including food, generators, refrigerators, fruits, umbrellas, electrical items, household goods, and parts of the market’s roof.

Engr. Adebayo Zacchaeus, the Acting Director of the FCT Fire Service, praised the firefighters for working quickly and efficiently to stop the fire.

This fire has made people worry more about fire safety in markets across the country. Many markets do not have good electrical setups and store flammable items the wrong way.
