FG Declares Tuesday Public Holiday for Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day Celebration

The Federal Government has announced that Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, will be a public holiday to celebrate Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day.

This news came from the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, through a statement by Dr. Magdalene Ajani, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, dated October 27, 2024.

The statement, shared on the Ministry’s official X (formerly known as Twitter) account last Saturday, wished all Nigerians well, both at home and abroad.

The Interior Minister congratulated Nigerians everywhere on behalf of the government.

“The Federal Government has declared Tuesday, October 1st, 2024, as a public holiday to celebrate the Nation’s 64th Independence Day. The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made this announcement on behalf of the Federal Government, congratulating Nigerians at home and abroad,” the statement partly read.

Dr. Tunji-Ojo praised the hard work and dedication of Nigerians, assuring them that their efforts will not go unnoticed.

The statement also asked people to remember the sacrifices of past heroes and use their stories as inspiration to build a better Nigeria in the future.

The Minister stressed that Nigeria can grow and prosper only through unity and continued hard work.

He encouraged everyone to stay committed to building the nation and wished all Nigerians a Happy Independence Day.
