The Technical Adviser to the President on Economic and Financial Inclusion in the Office of the Vice President, Dr. Nurudeen Abubakar Zauro, stated at the one-day webinar organized by the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), “NEPC Re-Energized Webinar Series 4.0: “The logistics imperatives for successful export: a practical perspective” which aims to equip exporters with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of export logistics, navigate the intricate practices and procedures involved, improve your ability to manage logistics operations for timely deliveries and address potential risks and challenges with effective mitigation strategies.

Speaking exclusively with online tribune, The presidential aide said the government is not ignorant of what Nigerians are currently going through and said 2024 is a year of reforms, while assuring that the benefits of the reforms will be fully manifested in 2025 through various initiatives that have been implemented. by the government. government in the outgoing year.

He said the economic crisis is a global issue, but added that Nigerians will begin to see the benefits of the reforms through the implementation and enabling environment that the Tinubu government has established.

“What we are trying to say is that the year 2024 is a year of reforms and a lot of economic reforms are being carried out in the country to ensure that a very good platform is established because the role of the government is to create an enabling environment. .

“Policies, regulations and all that are being implemented, and let us keep in mind that the difficult economic climate is not only in Nigeria but global in dimension.

“A lot of things have happened recently, like Covid-19, the war between Ukraine and Russia, now we have problems in the Middle East, supply chain disruptions, imports and exports and all that.

“That is why this debate that focused on exports is very important. We are talking about that in 2025 the implementations of some of these reforms that have already been outlined in 2024 will come to light.

“The benefits of those reforms will gradually be reflected to the point that the economy will recover.

“And I am sure you have seen it in the stability of the naira. The dollar has begun to gradually fall. Even fuel prices, as we speak, are also going down.

“We will reach a level of stability where all decision-making can now be absorbed. In 2025, we will reap the benefits of the reforms that have already been carried out in 2024.

“Among the reforms we have implemented is the ASO Agreement and Financial Inclusion. What is it about? There are three things in the ASO Agreement; Number one is Recognition. Recognizing the importance of economic opportunities for all Nigerians so that all economically active Nigerians are not left behind.

“It is also promoting collaboration between the public and private sectors and all other actors so that we can all achieve it together.

“What we are saying is that there has to be an ecosystem where there is a united front so that we can get where we are going.

“As of January, many implementations are already taking place in different segments of the Nigerian economy.

“Here we are talking about exports, logistics and other parameters. We have the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) which Nigeria is leading and if it is ready, Nigeria has to be ready because we have to produce locally and ensure that local production takes advantage of the AfCFTA so that we can export not only within the country. Africa but globally,” Dr. Abubakar Zauro told Tribune Online.

The Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC), Mrs. Nonye Ayeni, said the objective of the webinar was to provide exporters with an in-depth understanding of the basics of export logistics by helping them navigate due to the complexities of export logistics. practices and procedures, as well as equip them with the necessary knowledge to effectively manage their logistics operations and ensure that their products are delivered efficiently and on time.

It is also to highlight the potential risks and challenges you may encounter in the export logistics process and ways to mitigate them.

“If you listened to all the experts, we want to enhance our experience and the people in the value chain.

“We want to be able to prepare them so they understand what is needed in terms of logistics to make their export journey seamless.

“We have also been able to let them know what the principles are, the opportunities, the challenges and how to mitigate the risk.

“Basically so that your export journey goes smoothly and that is why we brought experts from various areas of Customs, the Presidency and even people who have had success stories to encourage everyone.

“This is a beautiful country full of opportunities. The bottom line for participants is that they are now better equipped in terms of export, especially to address logistics challenges,” the NEPC boss said.
