The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development (MSMD), has committed to working closely with the Zamfara State Government to harness the mineral resources of the state for economic development.

Receiving the Governor of Zamfara State, Dauda Lawal, in his office, the Minister of Solid Minerals Development, Dele Alake, emphasized the importance of the state to Nigeria's mining sector, highlighting the need to remove impediments stifling mining development in the state.

“Zamfara is one of the most resource-rich states in Nigeria, particularly solid minerals. “It is essential that all levels of government collaborate to responsibly exploit these resources and ensure that the revenue benefits both the citizens of Zamfara and Nigerians as a whole,” the minister said.

Governor Lawal noted that his visit was aimed at enhancing cooperation between the federal and state governments to address challenges in the mining sector.

“We discussed security concerns and strategies to better utilize our mineral resources for the benefit of both Zamfara and the nation. We need to explore the infrastructure needed to attract investors into solid minerals,” Governor Lawal said.
