Famous American singer, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, said that being famous can sometimes feel like being in jail.
Beyoncé, who is 43 years old, said she makes music whenever she wants.
In a talk with GQ, Beyoncé said she isn’t trying to make everything perfect. Instead, she wants to do new and different things.
She said that she likes to stay out of the public eye when she’s not sharing her art because being famous can be hard sometimes.
“I create at my own pace, making things I hope will touch other people. I hope my work helps people look inside themselves and find their own creativity, strength, and toughness. I focus on telling stories, growing, and making good quality work. I’m not trying to be perfect. I want to grow and do new things. I want to change how people see things,” she said.
“Working on music for Cowboy Carter and starting this new project feels fun and free to me. It’s not like being in jail at all. Fame can feel like jail sometimes. So, if you don’t see me at big events, and if I disappear until I have new art to share, that’s the reason,” she said.
When asked if she plans to retire, Beyoncé said, “Good music and strong messages will never retire.”
