Vice President Kashim Shettima has expressed optimism about Nigeria's economic future, assuring Nigerians that they will “smile and prosper” in 2025.
He said this while addressing State House correspondents after a visit to President Bola Tinubu in Lagos on Wednesday.
He believes the economy has turned a corner and is poised to grow.
According to Shettima, the government is working closely with the National Assembly to address national challenges and find strong solutions.
He acknowledged that Nigeria, like other nations, is not immune to global economic challenges, but expressed confidence that the country has crossed a critical threshold and is now on the path to sustained growth.
“The economy has started to recover and in the coming weeks and months, Nigerians will start to smile.
“We are working assiduously with the National Assembly to find strong solutions to our national challenges.
“There is no nation that is immune to economic headwinds around the world.
“The crisis in Ukraine and so many other global trends are negatively affecting us because we are part of the global community,” the vice president said.
The vice president's positive outlook is shared by economic experts, who predict that Nigeria's GDP will grow in 2025, driven by key sectors such as agriculture, construction, services and trade.
Increased foreign direct investment, infrastructure development, technology industry growth and diversification efforts are expected to contribute to the country's economic growth.
