'Everybody Loves Jenifa' reaches N1.6 billion, becoming the highest-grossing film in West African history

Funke Akindele's 2024 film 'Everybody Loves Jenifa' has made history as the highest-grossing film of all time in West Africa, surpassing N1.6 billion in earnings.

Tribune Online reports that the film had earlier set the record as the fastest Nollywood film to gross one billion naira, achieving this milestone in just 19 days.

Announcing the latest achievement, Funke Akindele, in a post on his verified Instagram account, attributed the feat to Almighty God.

He also expressed his gratitude to the fans and followers for their unwavering love and support for the project.

Sharing a flyer celebrating the latest album, he wrote: “Na Dios, I am!!!! I am very grateful to all of you!!!! I don’t know Wetin, I’m going to write again!!!”

Everybody Loves Jenifa, the latest installment of the beloved Jenifa series, continues to follow the fun and relatable journey of Jenifa, played by Funke Akindele.

The film features a stellar cast including Falz, Nancy Isime, Stan Nze and Layi, among others.

This is not the first time Akindele’s film has crossed the billion naira mark at the box office; his 2023 film, A Tribe Called Judah, also grossed over one billion naira.
