England’s soccer team has made it to the semi-final of Euro 2024!
The team, known as The Three Lions, won a very close game against Switzerland on Saturday. They needed to take penalty kicks to win.
The match was very exciting. It was tied 1-1 after playing for a long time, even after extra time. Bukayo Saka scored a fantastic long-distance goal to match Breel Embolo’s goal for Switzerland in the second half.
Manuel Akanji from Switzerland was unlucky and missed his penalty kick, which helped England win. This means England is now one of the last four teams in the tournament for the second time in a row!
Next, England will play either The Netherlands or Turkey. The winner will get to play in the big final next Sunday.
In the other semi-final, France will go up against Spain.
