Paul Pogba, a famous soccer player, said he had his best time playing at Manchester United after their old coach, Jose Mourinho, left.

Pogba, from France, shared that he wanted to leave Manchester United a long time before he went back to play for Juventus in 2022.

First, Pogba left Manchester United to join Juventus in 2012, but then he came back to Manchester United four years later.

However, while playing in the Premier League for the second time, Pogba faced many injuries and people kept talking about him maybe going to play for a team called Real Madrid.

In a chat with the Daily Mail, Pogba mentioned he wanted to leave after finishing the 2018-19 season with 16 goals out of 47 games from all the matches he played.

Manchester United had fired their coach, Jose Mourinho, and brought in a new coach, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who was okay if Pogba wanted to leave. But Ed Woodward, who was a big boss at Manchester United, did not agree to let Pogba go.

Pogba said, “The year Jose left and Ole came in, it was my best time at Manchester United. But after the last match, I told Ole and Ed Woodward I thought it was my last year and I wanted to move on.”

“I was 27 years old then, and things didn’t go the way I wished. I tried my best, but the team wasn’t getting better like others. Teams like Manchester City and Liverpool were doing better than us.”

“Ole agreed [to me leaving] and said he would talk to Ed. I had already made up my mind to leave, but showed up for the season because I wanted to do the right thing. I talked to Ed to try to leave, but he stopped it. I didn’t want to play for Manchester United anymore, but I had to act like a professional. In my mind, I wasn’t ready, and then I got injured.”
