EPL: Arteta Reveals Sleepless Night Before Arsenal’s 1-0 Victory at Tottenham

Must Read

Arsenal’s coach, Mikel Arteta, said he didn’t get much sleep before their 1-0 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

Arteta explained that his game plan was messed up because some of his players got hurt during the international break.

Gabriel Magalhaes scored the winning goal with a header in the 64th minute of the first North London Derby of this season.

However, Arsenal had some key players missing. Declan Rice was suspended, and injuries kept Martin Ødegaard, Mikel Merino, and Riccardo Calafiori out of the game.

Takehiro Tomiyasu and Kieran Tierney were also injured and couldn’t play.

“I didn’t enjoy preparing for the game because I didn’t sleep much,” Arteta said.

“I spent four or five days thinking about how to beat Spurs and had a very clear plan.

“I prepared all the meetings and training sessions. But then I got the news that one player was out, then another, and then another. So, I had to change everything and come up with a new plan based on the players we had left. It was a big challenge.”
