As part of the federal government's efforts to address the power cut of more than three months of the hospitals, Chief Bayo Adelabu, the Minister of Power and the managing director of IBEDEC will make an official visit to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan.
In addition, hospital management refuted the claim that patients bring generators to the hospital to provide energy to the rooms is inaccurate and cannot be based, claiming that the information lacks credibility.
Uch chief medical director, Professor Jesse Otegbayo, in a statement, said the hospital does not operate in mini generators that the writer shows and assured the general public that the online report is a deliberate and malicious misrepresentation of the facts.
The online report, written by Gideon Ayeni and published on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, explaining @trending X, said that patients bring generators to the hospital to provide energy to the rooms.
According to him, these accusations are false and unfounded; There is no credibility in that report and malice and misrepresentation are represented in the various low capacity generators that the writer shows, since the hospital does not operate these mini generators.
Professor Otegbayoe said the hospital has made concerted efforts to ensure that he continues to fulfill his central mandates of clinical services, research and training despite the disconnection of IBEDC from the national network.
He added: “Uch's management is working all day to provide alternative and sustainable electricity energy to the hospital. In fact, since then we have embarked on a gradual approach, including the provision of alternative energy (solar investors and generators with diesel) in critical units such as the rooms, accidents and emergencies, pupic growers and theaters ”.
According to him, the hospital has continued to involve supporters and interested parties (local, national and international), including the Ministry of Health and IBEDC in an attempt to find long -standing and sustainable solutions for the Power Challenge and many have supported with generous donations to support the provision of alternative energy.
