There was a very sad event in a place called Abocho, which is in Kogi State. A 70-year-old man named Malam Abu Yusuf died because he was struck by lightning.
This happened on a Thursday evening around 5:40 PM. It was raining very heavily when this occurred.
The news left many people who live there feeling sad and shocked. Everyone is talking about it in the community.
A local person named Dansoho Sulaiman shared what he heard with a news reporter. He said that Malam Abu Yusuf was healthy and strong before this happened.
Sulaiman explained, “A friend of the family called me to say that Yusuf had died. There was heavy rain all afternoon and it continued into the evening. He was outside when suddenly there was a loud noise and a bright light from the sky called lightning.”
Sulaiman continued, “He was struck by the lightning and passed away. This has never happened before in Abocho. People here are very surprised and saddened because he was a healthy and respected leader in the community. He was also the Imam, a religious leader, in the Angwa community.”
As per Islamic tradition, they plan to bury him the next day, on Friday.
