Police in Jigawa State have caught 18 people who were damaging public property in different parts of the state.
The head of the state police, Ahmad Tijjani Abdullahi, shared this news while showing the suspects at the police headquarters in Dutse, which is the main city in the state.
He said, “These people were caught over four months while they were wrecking public property to use for themselves.”
The people were caught in the areas of Yankwashi, Roni, and Taura for breaking electric wire cables.
He added, “On Monday around 10:30 PM, we got a call at the Roni Police Station saying that some people were seen damaging electric cables that supply electricity to Zugai village in Roni area.”
“As soon as we got the call, police officers from Roni Station quickly acted and were able to catch the people.”
The caught people were brought to the police station for a careful investigation. They admitted to cutting the electric cables, which are worth nine hundred and sixty-two thousand naira (N962,000.00).
All of these people have now been taken to court to face charges.
