#EdoDecides2024: INEC will investigate “erroneous figures” entered in voting center records

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it will investigate an allegation of erroneous figures entered in the result sheets of polling units in the ongoing Edo State gubernatorial election.

In a statement posted via its X account, INEC said it had received two complaints “out of 4,519 polling units,” prompting an immediate investigation into the matter.

“The commission has been informed of a complaint about the introduction of erroneous figures in the voting records of polling stations in the ongoing Edo State gubernatorial election. This is the second complaint we have received from the 4,519 polling stations used for the election.

“The commission will immediately investigate the matter and address any violations found,” the commission said.

PREMIUM TIMES reports that 17 parties are contesting the gubernatorial election. However, three parties, the APC, PDP and Labour Party, are believed to be the main contenders.
